In Far Cry 5, players exploring the mountainous terrain of the Whitetail Mountains will encounter dangerous cult structures known as Wolf Beacons. Built by Jacob Seed's forces, these red-lighted towers transmit hypnotizing signals that drive local wolves wild and bolster the cult's presence. Destroying every Wolf Beacon is essential for fully liberating the region and completing the side quest associated with them.
How to Unlock the Call of the Wild Mission
Before hunting down every beacon across the map, you need to initiate the relevant questline. Speaking with Tammy Barnes at the Wolf's Den after progressing through early story objectives unlocks the side mission titled Call of the Wild. Completing her prerequisite assignments ensures that all destroyed beacons count accurately toward your total progress.
Where to Find Wolf Beacons in Jacob's Region
There are ten total Wolf Beacons scattered across the Whitetail Mountains, primarily positioned near radar towers and high-elevation ridges. Once Tammy activates the quest, four beacon markers appear directly on your map to help you get started. The remaining six beacons must be tracked down through exploration, often identified by their blinking red lights and loud audio cues.
Best Strategies for Destroying the Beacons
Approaching a Wolf Beacon on foot can be tough due to patrolling cult members and aggressive predators. The most efficient method to clear them is commandeering an armed helicopter equipped with rockets or heavy machine guns. Striking the reinforced base of the tower from the air allows you to obliterate the objective quickly before hostile reinforcements can respond.
Rewards and Completion Benefits
Demolishing all ten structures successfully completes the Call of the Wild side mission and weakens Jacob's hold on Hope County. Players are rewarded with extra Resistance Points for the region alongside a generous cash bonus. Clearing these targets also contributes significantly toward unlocking regional achievements and reaching full completion.
